RAINE REFLECTIONS

Job

I have prayed to succeed
To avoid the crushing failure
So blessed by the Lord
I am punished
By His favour

I am beaten to submission
Though I do not know my crime
Humiliated by the grace
And the passing
Of my time

Confined to a selfish prison,
By shackles, I am defined
Compelled to scribe each verse
With no audience
Left in mind

Another failing soul cries out
Whispers on the wind
Hymns cast up to heaven
Will they ever
Let them in?

But my faith,
It never waivers
It never fails to entreat
So pious and so penitent
Posthumous and complete
