Maybe Not Tomorrow...

You lived life like an artist
But you didn’t have money or fame
You had lots of empty promise
And so many others to blame

You were just waiting on inspiration
For some different kind of view
You were trying to find your way
You were seeking something new

Maybe not tomorrow,
And maybe not today
God knows you’ll get there sometime
If you don’t get lost along the way

You never saw the streetlights
The future held nothing new
No, you never had a plan
You’re just stuck with things to do

It’s too hard to look ahead
When tomorrow is already here
And your life has gone unread
And all you have left are fears

Maybe not tomorrow,
And maybe not today
Just send a postcard when you get there
But send it right away
