Older Now

Singing along

to yesterday’s rebellion,

we throw our hearts

into the autumn night

we’re middle-aged, it’s true

maybe more than that

everybody knows that singing

is better than weeping

so let’s drink to worn grooves

that live in denial

she’s still got a smile

that invites me like a sunset

we’re older now

there’s no need to reveal

we are saggy and loose

in the places we feel,

but weakening eyes

can’t deceive the beauty

that she brings to me

as long as we laugh

we can still pretend

so let’s put on another song

before our evening ends
