Toadstools

Goddamn gnomes!

Sitting in their

garden seats

eating psilocybin

mushrooms

busting clouds

with their minds

inhaling stardust

Sometimes

you catch ‘em

by moonlight

chugging moonshine

waddling in the yard

drunk like penguins

in baggy lederhosen

and sugarloaf bonnets

I saw one, once

after a few drams

of the best Irish,

shirtless,

chasing the neighbour’s cat

with a butcher knife

don’t think

he got her though

gnomes ain’t very fast

Come to think of it

never did see that

tabby again . . .
